The Story so far...

Nearly there!

Here at Under the Oaks HQ, we were thinking that it is high time, we explained to you great people out there what our mission is, so here goes…

As some of you already know, we are husband and wife, self-published authors, and teachers of our home-educated children. We both love all things art and creating new things from music, portraits, sewing projects and van conversions, which leads me to the point of this particular blog… Van conversion.

Going back to January 2022, we were having a chat as to where we wanted to go moving forward, and it was decided unanimously that we would love nothing more than to get out and about in our beautiful surroundings and sell our products personally, at local fairs, festivals etc, but to make this a reality, we needed a vehicle, not only to transport our products, but somewhere we could nestle down for the night after a hopefully busy day.

This led us to Trinny the Transit, a dirty old works van, in need of dire love and attention. When Darron returned home with her on a cold January afternoon, I won’t lie, my heart sank somewhat, even more so once I had climbed in the filthy cab and we drove down the road, the clanking noise from the back was intolerable, to say the least!

However, two years later, after a cost of living crisis and the soaring prices of materials, we are almost there, I say we, but I have to admit that the majority of the hard work, design and love has been applied by Darron, who has continuously worked through all kinds of weather, to get her to where she is now… Nearly there!

She has most definitely been a labour of love and a bag of mixed emotions, but now, when the doors open and I look inside and see our rolling home, it fills me with such excitement. From this week we will post weekly updates on Trinny, and hopefully, very soon she will be visiting a town near you!
