Phases...

On our daily stroll along our local country lanes this week, I had an overwhelming realisation of just how important the four seasons are to me, the ever-changing wheel of the year…

When you become immersed in the magic and majesty of nature, for a brief moment, it allows you to forget about the global atrocities, stripping away the continuing treachery of governments to stop and observe nature with the promise of a new cycle of life, everything seems delightful and serene.

No social division, no hierarchy, just fresh beginnings…

After a long, dark winter, it brings such joy to see everything springing to life, giving us hope that brighter days are ahead. The same can be said when we slide from spring to summer. All things in full bloom, the sun glowing with brimming vigour, the warm breeze cooling our sun-kissed bodies. A time to revel outside, with no confines and renewed energy

And then comes the magnificence of Autumn, the vast array of warm colours, lending us a gentle reminder that all things must come to rest for a while, including us, mankind.

I, for one, after enjoying spring and summer, embrace the delights of autumn, beautiful walks in the rich vibrancy of the changing season. Cosy evenings, and the fresh chill of the morning air, giving a heads up that winter is fast approaching.

Again, the wheel turns, and winter is our time to hibernate, recharge and ready ourselves for the coming year ahead. Roaring fires, books, hot drinks, and of course, the festive season, for those who celebrate it, a time to decorate our homes with lights and colour, bringing in the green, keeping the light shining in the darker months of the year.

I am filled with gratitude that every year I have the opportunity to embrace every season, for without them, life for me would be incredibly dull.

So, my friends, let’s raise a glass to the return of the sun…
